Cumberland County Chess Club

Cumberland County Chess Club

The Cumberland County Chess Club was started in 1973 and incorporated in 1978.  We host two closed tournaments and three open tournaments each year .

One of the closed tournaments is our Cumberland County chess Championship sponsored by the Cumberland County Bank; the winner's name is engraved on a plaque that hang at Cumberland County Bank. The other closed tournament is scholastic and is sponsored by Highland Federal Savings and Loan. The tournament includes primary, elementary, junior high and high school sections. Each winner, each year, gets their name engraved on a plaque that hangs in Highland Federal Savings Bank.

The open tournaments are held in April, July and October. Each  tournament has an open section and an amateur section.

The club meets at Dairy Queen Restaurant on Main Street in Crossville, Tennessee each Thursday at 7:00 PM. We have general play and at times during the year hold tournaments for blitz or one hour games, and fun games such as bughouse.

We welcome any and all players to come and enjoy our club and of course, ice cream!
